Motivation to finish projects.....

Hi everyone, I hope you are well!! I've been working on so many swaps and little projects lately that I haven't worked on some of the projects that I've started a while back. I know that I'm not the only one with UFO's. It's one of the side affects of becoming addicted to quilting and fabric. You just always want to start something new. Well, I sent out my last swap of the year. I've been really good and didn't sign up to any more swaps so that I can work on some of my projects. I've done 8 swaps this year. I think that's pretty good. So, here's the list of projects that I need to finish.

  1. Schnibbles Cindy Lou Who Quilt - needs to be quilted
  2. Woodland Bloom Quilt - need to finish the border then quilt it
  3. Hexagon Star Quilt - hand piecing this top, have 6 rows of 17 stars done, 9 rows of 17 to go
  4. Rocky Road to Kansas Quilt - 6 blocks done, 6 blocks to make
  5. Shabby Roses BOM - 4 blocks done, 8 left to do
  6. 9-patch Quilt Along - Not very far along, need to work on this one
  7. Sister's Quilt - need to sew the blocks together to finish the top

Now, my "I want to make" list is much longer .  But I"m trying to not think of those too much. I'm going to try to work on these projects this month. I'm still going to make the Schnibbles quilt if I get the pattern on time. But I really do want to get some of these done. Let's see if I can get some of these projects done. Even if I get only one totally done and some progress on others, I'll be happy. But I'm really going to try hard not to start any new projects. That's going to be really hard. Well I hope you all have a great night.

I finally finished my Winter White Schnibbles quilt!!!

I'm done!! Yeah! Today, I finished my Winter White Schnibbles quilt. I'm so excited to be done. I spent the morning quilting it and then it took me the rest of the day to hand stitch the binding to the back. I just finished it a few minutes ago. I love the way this quilt turned out. It's not perfect, but still very pretty. I used fabric from my stash for this quilt. I usually buy fat quarters, and that's what I used. I even pieced the back with blocks cut from some of the fat quarters that I used for the front. I decided to make a simple nine patch block for the back. I think it's cute. I even pieced left over strips of fabric to make the binding. This quilt is being gifted so I took lots of pictures to remind me of it. I really like this pattern. I may have to make another one like this at some point. It was not the easiest, but I love the look of it.

On another note, last night I went to my local quilt guild meeting. I had so much fun. Some of the long time members of the quilt guild had their very own truck shows. Six members showed their quilts and shared their stories. It was so much fun. I had some good laughs. I think it was one of the most enjoyable nights out I had in a while. I'm really happy I was able to go this month. I hope you are all well!!

Happy Stitching!!!

Amazing packages in the mail!!!

I got home from work today and my husband said:
"Hey Honey, You got some more mail! How come you always get packages in the mail?"
Hmmmm! A little bit jelous I think! Well, he should be.

I got the most amazing package from Caryn @ Pieceful Chaos. She was my swap partner for the flickr placemat swap. She made me 6 wonderful matching snowman placemats. I just LOVE them. They are amazing. She made them out of the softess flannels. I feel so blessed to have received such a gift. Thank you so much Caryn. I'm so excited about them.

Then, I also received my package from Fahrenheit 350. She sent me a sample of her traditional sweet log. It was eaten by MOI in about 60 seconds. I did have to savor it a little. Mmmmmm!!! It was delicious and sweeeeeeeeet!!! I loved it!!! Thank you so much Kitty!!

As you can see, I was very excited after work. This just made my day. Thanks to both Caryn and Kitty. I'm so very blessed!!!!

Happy Halloween!

The kids went out for Halloween tonight. It was cold, windy and a bit wet. But my two youngest got lots of treats, while my oldest helped hand out candies. Above is a picture of my daughter in her Vampire costume. I made the little dress. It was more difficult then I expected. But I love the way it looked on her. The middle picture is a plaster mask that my second oldest made out of plaster at school. The third photo is of my second oldest. He is giving a fierce look in this picture. But when he gave his smily eyes, he looked more like a comedian. The wig and mustache made him look older. They all had fun even if the weather wasn't great. Wishing you all a safe Halloween.

My placemat quilt for PQS2

I joined the Placemat Quilt Swap 2 on flickr. It was my first flickr swap. I really had fun doing this swap and loved all the comments the others shared. We had a really great group. It was organized by krommama. Thank you so much for organizing a wonderful swap. I know it's a lot of work. But I really appreciate it.

My partner is piecefulchaos. I made her a maple leaf placemat with a matching potholder, 2 coasters and a little bag. She received it today. So now I am able to share it with all of you. I love the way it turned out. I purchased the Maple leaf paper pieced block pattern on etsy from Piece by Number. I love this maple leaf pattern. Then I designed the little placemat using the four blocks that I had made.

Then I decided to make her a potholder and some coasters with the leftover material. I thought a little bag to put them in would be handy, so I made one of those. It ended up a bit smaller than I wanted, but was still cute.

I hope you like what I made. I had a lot of fun doing it. I have to make myself some placemats with the maple leaf on it. Fall is my favorite season and I love to see the changing leaves. Well, that's all for now.
Happy Stitching!!

Another Stitcher's Angel Project, fabric and a gift!!

Today, I finally finished my Charming Bed Pocket for the Stitcher's Angel Swap. I hope my secret partner likes it. It was my first time doing this kind of project, with the coloring and then making a ruffle. Yep! This is the first time that I successfully make a ruffle. I was all proud of myself. I'm getting better at sewing. Yeah!

I also received some fabric. I ordered some Mezzanine from the Patty Young collection. I bought from two different fabric stores online; Flair for Fabric and Pink Panda Fabrics. I love these two Canadian stores. Fast delivery for both and great prices for modern designer quilting cottons.

I also received a wonderful gift in the mail today. I won Mother's Cupboard giveaway a few weeks ago. She was celebrating the launch of the new blog Among the Gum Trees. Both of these blogs are wonderful and you should check it out. Thanks you so much Fiona for the wonderful stitchery kit. I can't wait to get started.

If you've been wondering why I haven't been blogging as much, it's because my three kids and my husband all had the flu last week. The kids were home for the whole week sick. Lots of sleepless nights. Plus, I worked the entire week. I was like a walking zombie. I guess it suits the season. I should have just added a bit of zombie make-up. Well, they are all better now. Just a bit of lingering coughs. I hope you are all avoiding the flu this season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because I'm the only one who hasn't gotten it yet. Tomorrow I'll be working on sewing a Halloween costume for my daughter. Let's hope it goes well. I'm not that confident sewing clothing yet.

Happy Stitching!
